Side Rebate Customer Feedback

Hi Terry,

I bought a RH side rebate plane of yours last year at the Sydney Working with Wood show, and I’m not often this happy with a tool, so I thought I’d send you a quick email. I’ve been thinking for quite a while about using sliding dovetails more often in my work, but because they’re usually such a pain to fit properly in a reasonable time, I’ve been turned off.  This plane is so nice to use though. In my first use of it I cut a shelf and divider for a plate rack out of river red gum, which was a ridiculously hard and cranky timber to work with, but your plane shaved as much or little as I wanted off the male and female parts so smoothly. I dunno what the pitch of the blade is, but it was pretty perfect on the end grain. Took me so much less time than it's taken in the past. I was worried I wouldn’t use it much when I bought it, but it’s been worth it on a quite a few occasions already, widening rebates and grooves for shelves etc.  I sent you a couple of photos of how those joints ended up too. Pretty tightJ  Anyway just thought you’d appreciate the feedback mate.

Keep up the good work,

Dane Maurer

BTW easiest plane to set up too. I Just tap the wedge in with the blade set up and back from the mouth a little and tap the back of the blade forward to however deep I want the cut. I just used the back of my little hammer to knock the wedge out from the bottom if I set it too deep:) Cheers..""
